Ajax 12V PSU for NVR is an internal alternative power module that allows a compatible Ajax NVR to run from a low-voltage DC source instead of its standard mains power supply.

Ajax specifies an 8–16 V DC operating range when the onboard jumper is not fitted. This makes the module useful for battery-backed security cabinets, vehicles, off-grid sites and other installations where a low-voltage supply is already available or where maintaining the recorder during a mains outage is important.

A second 12.1–16 V DC mode can be enabled with the jumper. In this configuration the NVR switches off when the external supply falls below Ajax's specified threshold, helping reduce the risk of completely discharging the connected battery. The module replaces the standard 110/230 V AC power board inside the recorder rather than working as an external adaptor.

Installation requires the NVR enclosure to be opened and the internal power assembly changed. Ajax therefore specifies installation by qualified specialists and normal electrical-safety precautions should be followed. This is a specialist system component rather than a plug-in consumer power supply.

Choosing the right Ajax model

This module is most useful where the CCTV system already depends on a battery or low-voltage DC infrastructure. Replacing the internal mains board avoids adding an inverter solely to power the recorder. The optional higher cut-off mode is designed to preserve the external battery by shutting the NVR down before the supply is deeply discharged.
