We cut and solder LED strip to your measurements on the bench at 398 Harrow Road before you collect it, so what arrives on site is ready to fit. £10 per strip, inc VAT.

Order the parts with it: 2-core cable for single-colour strip and 5-core cable for RGBW strip, both cut by the metre, plus strip connectors, leads and end caps. Add one prep service for each strip you want cut and soldered.

What the service covers
  • Cutting your strip to the length you give us, on the marked cut points
  • Soldering power leads, or strip-to-strip joints where a run turns a corner
  • Fitting the connectors or lead supplied with your order
  • A bench test before handover, so you know it lights before it leaves us
What we need from you
  • The finished length of each run
  • Which end the power lead comes out of, and how long the tail needs to be
  • Soldered joints or solderless connectors
  • The IP rating of the strip — IP65 and IP67 need the silicone reworking and resealing at the cut
Why it is worth having done

LED strip only cuts at fixed points, marked along the tape. Cut between them and that segment is dead. The spacing is not the same on 12V and 24V strip, and COB tape differs again from standard SMD, so a run measured off the wall rarely lands neatly on a cut mark — someone has to decide whether to come up short or lose a segment.

Soldering to the pads is the other half of it. Too little heat and the joint fails in the channel six months later; too much and the copper lifts off the tape and that end is scrap. On IP65 and IP67 strip the silicone has to come back over the joint or moisture tracks straight down the run. It is a five-minute job with the right iron and a bad afternoon without one.

How to order

Order the strip, cable and connectors as normal, then add one prep service for each strip that needs preparing. Leave the lengths and lead positions in the order notes at checkout, or call the trade counter on 020 7286 4888 and we will take the spec over the phone.

Not sure what you need? Send the run lengths and we will tell you what strip, driver and profile the job takes.
