Description

Designed for stronger night-time identification, Ajax TurretCam HL 4K 8MP Hybrid Light CCTV Camera 2.8mm – White combines 8MP IP video, a fixed 2.8mm lens, hybrid illumination, True WDR and Ajax AI.

In normal low-light operation the camera can use infrared illumination for discreet black-and-white monitoring. When colour information is useful, white light can be introduced to reveal details such as clothing or vehicle colour. Ajax describes the HL range as hybrid-light cameras specifically designed to improve image usefulness at night.

True WDR helps when bright and dark areas appear in the same scene, while built-in AI distinguishes people, animals and vehicles. The microphone provides recorded audio, and the fixed lens keeps installation simpler than the HLVF varifocal range when the correct field of view can be established in advance.

The camera is connected by Ethernet and supports PoE or 12 V DC power. Recorded footage can be stored on a compatible microSD card or centrally on an Ajax NVR, with live viewing and archive access through Ajax apps. This combination makes the HL range well suited to entrances, driveways, shop fronts and other indoor or outdoor areas where night-time colour detail can improve event review.

Choosing the right Ajax model

As the 8MP version, this model records at 4K resolution and is the higher-detail option within its family. The additional pixel count is most useful where footage may need closer inspection after an event, or where one camera covers a relatively broad scene and retaining fine detail across that scene matters.

The key reason to choose HL over the standard Ajax fixed-lens camera is night-time flexibility. HL means Hybrid Light: the camera can use infrared for discreet low-light monitoring and switch to white LED illumination when colour detail is useful.
